Movement@Home FAQ's

What’s the mission of Movement Church Network?
The mission of Movement Church Network is to connect to Christ, connect to culture and connect the culture. We do that by moving up to connect to Christ in our efforts to be with Jesus. We connect to culture by moving out in our efforts to be like Jesus. Rhythmically we move in to connect the culture to Christ in our obedience to make disciples.

What is Movement@HOME?
Movement@Home is a group of people who live in the same local area and intentional connects to others in their communities of culture. Movement@HOME locations gather together in homes or cafes or available spaces around the world to be the church, watching a Movement Church Network message and spending time in worship and discussion. Movement@HOME is encountering God in community.

Why are we doing Movement@HOME?
We are called to share the good news of Jesus with the world, and we want to help people have real, genuine relationships with God and others. The vision comes from Romans 15:23, where Paul says, "But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions . . ." How could Paul say that his work was done in an area of an estimated 30 million people across the Roman Empire? We see the gospel moving rapidly in the book of Acts and we believe the same can happen today. We desire to see disciples made of all nations until Jesus returns.  According to Acts 1:8, Jesus calls us to reach the world, “even the remotest places on earth.” We want to leverage digital technology to help us do that. Movement@HOME makes church available for anyone, anywhere, and emphasizes the importance and power of face-to-face connection. We need Jesus, and community!

How is Movement@HOME different than Movement Meetups?
Meetups are a great format for meeting together with community, and they are an easy on-ramp for making connections. Meetups can be focused around an affinity or a fun activity. We’d encourage anyone with a heart for people to consider hosting a Movement Meetups! Comparatively, Movement@HOME is more than gathering as a meetup -- it’s people drawn together into the mission of Jesus Christ by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Movement@HOME locations gather together to be the church, watching a Movement Church Network message and spending time in worship and discussion. We’d encourage anyone interested in hosting Movement@HOME to learn more about the process and fill out an application. There is a formal screening and training process required for all potential Movement@HOME hosts.

How is Movement@HOME different than a home church?
Movement@HOME is under the leadership of Movement Church Network. All content shared in a Movement@HOME service is prepared by Movement Church Network and reflects Movement Church Network’s beliefs and theology. Movement@HOME leaders go through a verified approval and training process overseen by Movement Church Network pastors. Movement@HOME locations are part of the global Movement Church Network community—meaning hosts and locations are accountable to Movement Church Network leadership in oversight and implementation Comparatively, a home church would be under its own leadership, with its own content, and have a possible connection to any church base or could potentially be freestanding with no formal church oversight.

Is there Movement Kids for Movement@HOME?
Yes! The same Movement Kids content will be available on the Movement Church Network app! So Movement Kids can be meeting and doing church at the same time as their parents. Or they could do Movement Kids while adults are mingling before a Movement@HOME service starts. Some Movement@HOME locations may be for adults only, but content and support exists to ensure children and families can also have a meaningful church experience.

Is there Movement Students for Movement@HOME?
There will be! We’re working on making great content for students available on the Movement Church Network app. So students could be meeting and doing church at the same time as their families. Our team is hard at work optimizing the experience for our youth and making sure strong leadership and support is in place to protect them!

What technology do I need to host Movement@HOME?
To best share the Movement Church Network content, you’ll need a smartphone, the Movement Church Network app, a wireless display adapter that gives you the ability to airplay or screen share to your TV (i.e., AppleTV, Amazon Firestick, Roku Streaming stick) or an Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter, and a TV (or another form of being able to project). If you’re using a wireless display adapter, plug it into the HDMI port of your TV and into a power source. Then change the input source on your TV. Turn on screen mirroring from the display menu in the settings on your smartphone. If you’re using an Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter, plug it into the HDMI port of your TV and connect your phone. What’s on your phone will be mirrored on your TV. If you don’t have access to this technology, but would otherwise be interested in hosting Movement@HOME, please let us know by completing our interest form. We are always working on adding technology that will help facilitate making church happen.
